1. At first check together with another person if you really are not capaple of hosting a Rune Server. If so also check wether you're running any software firewall programs (i.e. ZoneAlarm, Norton Personal Firewall etc.). These programs may be the reason that you can't maker a server. You will need to close those programs or else you can't make a server even if you tell them to "Permit all" or in a way tell them to let Rune pass the firewall. You may start them again after you close your server.
2. Check the manual of your router. Look espacially for this phrases:
-port forwarding
-opening ports
-NAT
-WAN-to-LAN Rules
Try to find a description on how to open ports.
3. If the manual is no help at all or you haven't got one/can't find it try to find out the name of your router.
4. Go to www.portforward.com/routers.htm and search the list of routers for your one.
5. Click the link and follow the instructions.
A port has alway a type. There are 2 types of which a port can be. Either TCP or UDP.
The ports you'll need to open are these:
-7776 UDP
-7777 UDP
-7778 UDP
-7779 UDP
-7780 UDP
-7781 UDP
-27900 UDP
-27900 TCP
You may have noticed that the port 27900 is 2 times in that list. Think of them as 2 different ports because of their different type.
6.Test again with somebody if you can run now a Rune Server.
If you're still not able to open a server continue reading.
Some people might need to enable DMZ in order to make a server:
1. Search everywhere in the options of your router for DMZ. After you found it there should be somewhere a field where you can enter the digits behind the last period of your IP adress (i.e if your Ip adress is 192.168.120 then you enter 120 into the field. If your IP adress is 192.168.1.41 then you enter 41 into the field).
2. In some cases there is a option with that you need to enable DMZ. it should be at the same place where you have the field in that you enter the last digits of your Ip adress. Enable DMZ.
3. Click the "Apply" or "Save" button when there is one to save your just made settings.
4. Run Rune and test it together with somebody.
If you still having problems making a server or your router isn't listed at www.portforward.com/routers.htm contact me on ICQ/MSN.
Good Luck!
